Sheldon Bart is president and founder of Wilderness Research Foundation, a not-for-profit organization seeking to expand the opportunities for scientific exploration beyond the limited regime of government funding. WRF's current project is an expedition for university-based researchers to Axel Heiberg Island in the High Arctic.

 


Contact Sheldon Bart

A published author, Bart is writing a major biography of Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd. He has extensively researched exploration and adventure between the world wars and has lectured at the Explorers Club, the Geographical Society of Philadelphia, the Elisha Kent Kane Historical Society, Hunter College of the City University of New York and the Byrd Polar Research Center of Ohio State University.

He was the leader of the 1996 American Expedition to Baffin Island in the Canadian Eastern Arctic.
